Drive from Baie Comeau was great. Fantastic scenery and exciting drive on twisty roads. Dam was not much to see unless you go on a guided tour which is 2 hours long. Full review by clike

Not too far from the Baie-Comeau centre (near the Travelodge). If you have time worth a visit. We did not go in for a tour but that is an option as well. Full review by SoyKabAl
Are there any RV campgrounds near Manic-5? I know that there is one near Manic-2 but I can't seem to find any close to Manic-5. Thx Norm

Actually, there is additional camping at Manic 5. Just 1 km to the south there is a road marked to the overlook. If you pass the first turn out which is just a little wide area in the road, you will come to an abandoned campground that is owned by the Hydro. You are free to camp there for several days. It is dry camping but you can find plenty of space. If you bump up over the curb onto the circle around the overlook there is a fire ring set up in the middle of what once was a garden space. We stayed 2 nights and met great folks around the campfire. This is totally the best view you will get of the dam, particularly at night when it is lit up. If you go 2 km south, you will come to a gas station and truck stop which also has dry overnight camping. Just be warned that no matter where you decide to stay, the biting black flies will come looking for you. We found them to be the worst in the late afternoon, and then thankfully disappearing once it cools off and gets dark. I highly recommend staying at the overlook. There were campers, 5th wheels and tent campers while we were there. The site is very safe.
