This is a very pretty area. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as if you can stop and enjoy the dense forest. It is worthwhile driving through it.Full review by Adventurers049

A cute drive up Fern Gully as we had rented a car. Right at the top there's a view point with a bar, which we accidentally across. Beautiful views of lush greens. Be careful of you do step out though…Full review by Mands30509

Is it possible to engage a botanist who can WALK us through Fern Gully, pointing out species and facts about them? Hubby and I are Master Gardeners and are looking to learn.

I don't think that "walking" through Fern Gully is too feasible, as it is one of the main roads that locals traverse to get from Ocho Rios to Spanish Town and other locations along the way. Traveling through Fern Gully can be a hair raising experience becuase of the narrow road; and most traverse via vehicle. Walking is not recommended. You may be able to find a few side spots to stop and explore the vegetation and plants, but not too many. The way the vehicles speed through can be pretty unnerving for the faint of heart. Nevertheless, with all of that being said, I am sure that if you engage a local along the way upon the road, you may find someone that can share some information on the vegetation that is found along Fern Gully.
We will are going on a Caribbean cruise tomorrow and will be in Ocho Rios. Would like to book a non touristy tours like this one.

It is beautiful, but a very short tour. You might like to travel toward Montego Bay a few miles and visit the Seville Great House with quality museum exhibits. A few miles further is the Rose Hall Mansion where the story of the white witch is told.
