They close highway 89 during heavy snows, but when the road is open you should be able to stop there, unless the snow is especially deep.

I wish I could tell you. We were there in February and had a warm spell. Only snow was in the shadows. Four weeks later a friend booked a trip because she saw our pictures and was completely snowed in. Couldn't drive to the Donner Pass nor most of the other hiking trail areas on the west side of the lake. When in Napa, check the weather.
