The walk is about 3Km ,from the Mallyan spout hotel, its all down hill, but a rough and uneven pathway ,at the bottom, there is a short walk to the waterfall, but, you have to climb over the rocks and it can be slippery, very uneven for the old/young .. if you take the easy pathway from the carpark in Goathland , there is a bit of up and down walking to get to the waterfall, but again the most difficult part is around the falls themselves ,, hope this helps ,but its well worth the walk .
