The San Felipe Fort was a stop on our private tour of Puerto Plata. If you’ve been to San Juan and seen the large fort there, this is much smaller, but very similar in age and stone composition. Over…Full review by stephanie c

There is parking and it would be appropriate for young children. I am not sure if there was a separate entrance fee because we were part of a group from a Carnival Splendor cruise ship. It is a very historical place and looks out over beautiful water.

If you like to walk the town is not that big the fort is beautiful as is the church in town square. However my favorite place is the tram which takes you to the top of the mountain and if you go in the early morning you see distances it by far the best for a tour and includes both the fort and the church and the town and the rum factory bring a snack they give you water for a half day it is about 45 dollars well worth the money. I would not do an Uber here

I would book through your hotel. They are extremely accommodating. The tours may include a variety of places you have no interest in. If that is the case, there are usually taxis for hire just inside the hotel entrance. The driver would then be at your disposal. You would also know the taxi is approved by the hotel. The other choice is to speak to either the doorman or the front counter staff. Lots of options.
