The park is home to over 1,000 wild but tame deer, which are considered sacred messengers of the gods. You can feed them special "shika senbei" (deer crackers) sold around the park.Full review by Rock S

Well worth the trip but skip the beginning of the park where all the families and kids congregate! Keep walking, there’s plenty of deer deeper in the park where it’s a bit less crowdedFull review by Joe L

I was never at the Park early enough to not have the shops open. Regardless of when you go the Park and its attractions are well beyond just the deer. The Buddha at the end of the park is amazing. The museum along the walk is well worth it. The deer are fun but they can be aggressive. One time we were there it was fall and there were vendors selling baked sweet potatoes. We were finished with the potato and I was holding on to the wrapping paper until we could find an appropriate place to dispose of it. We stopped to take a picture and a deer snuck up behind us and stole the paper. I actually have a picture if the crime. Plan plenty of time. If you go during a festival there will also be a lot of great street food. It is well worth it.
Hi I recently visited Nara park with a few friends and noticed we all have rashes spreading on our arms. We all pet the deer, has anyone else experienced this?
