What's the best way to get from Havana to the Memories hotel? I looked at the Viazul bus but it does not come through here. Is a taxi the only option and if so, does the hotel arrange the transfer or do we just pick up a cab on the streets of Havana/

Not that I know of. There are restaurants in the resorts, but other than that, you have to take a taxi to get to ones outside the resorts. There are a few within a couple of kilometers, but we haven't been to any of them. I am not aware of a supermarket anywhere near there. We took the train from Hershey (we took a taxi to there) to the town where it stops (sorry, can't remember the name.). There is a small store there, almost like a department store, but with very little to offer. Unless you speak Spanish fairly fluently, this might be a bit of a challenge. Sorry, this probably isn't much help, but I tried!

Memories is right next door to Villa Jibacoa, which is smaller and quainter, and about 1/3 price cheaper. Check them both out, because they both have good and bad points in the reviews, then make up your mind. I've had friends stay at Memories (formerly Breezes), and their complaints about the food, were similar to mine, staying at Villas Jibacoa, and since they both share the same beach, I could not justify the extra expenditure. That being said, I like the smaller resort, that is quieter, and less people - it is certainly not for everyone, but neither is a lot of nightlife and noisy people around a pool either
