You could do it in an hour or take all day. When I went with children we went round once, took a break for lunch, then went back to see the otters being fed and try the rock pools. Finally, we went round to do the quiz, win prizes and explore the shop. That was around 4 hours in total.
Can you use the coffee shop without buying an aquarium ticket?

There is a cafe at the top which looks out over the loch, big panoramic windows. They sell hot and cold food and have a microwave for heating up baby food. Not sure what the rules are for bringing your own. The food is ok and not too horrendously priced. You can also picnic on the shores of the weather is nice and there is a play park right next to the shore behind the aquarium.
