This is a rare find with so many mammoths found in one place! Very interesting history. Amazing views! I would definitely recommend for children and adults alike. Full review by Marta K

One of our favorite stops during our trip out west! What an interesting, rare site this is. The film was so informative and we could not believe the site once we proceeded there after the film. Full review by Sherpa62840354049
Mammoth dig site & Evans plunge. Can be done in the same day? Enjoyable for 2 adults & a 12yr old boy? How much time you think for both activities? Anything else near by that's a "must do?"

One day will cover it all. At Mammoth site there is a video, active dig with phone or print tour, ice age exhibit, gift shop, A twelve year old boy should love the kid's dig. Evans plunge is an indoor and outdoor naturally warm pool with water slides, swing rings and basketball. Also hot tub, sauna, steam room, and snack bar. The rings and slides don't open until 10:00, but the rest of the pool is available earlier. I also recommend for a 12 year old boy Cascade Falls Park: a few miles outside Hot Springs for hiking and swimming.
depends upon what you are interested in. My hubby is a geologist so we spent about 2 hours there. but most could probably get by with an hour, give or take a little bit more time.

My family is getting together in SD this August. There is much to see and do, however, there are no children. Is this geared towards kids? Would adults be bored?

If you have adults interested in archaeology, dinosaurs or just science in general they would enjoy the museum site. The Mammoth site IS south of much of the other tourist sites in SD. If you are going to do the Wind or Jewel caves they are on the way to or from the Mammoth site.
