This is a fun drive with great scenery. You can stop along the way at the pullouts, and then walk across the old bridge at the bottom by the rest stop. Totally worth it.Full review by vacation-dad12

You don’t need an SUV or 4 wheel drive, the road is all paved. However if you wish to take some of the unmade roads higher into the mountains then you probably would. Remember that h the winter there is snow and ice in the roads so care is needed. The road goes right to the bottom of the canyon and up the other side! It is amazing.
