Prague Castle sits up on the hill on the other side of the river from and above the old town. We devoted a morning to visiting it. We arrived right at 8:30 when it opened and were rewarded with a few…Full review by SnowyShasta

Hi, I'm visiting prague from 16 to 19 of december and would like to know if I should buy tickets in advance to visit the castle and if so, if it is possible to buy them online?

You can buy the tickets at the castle, but, to avoid a queue ( even if small) and make most of my time, I would recommend buying it beforehand. Prague city pass is a great option( I would definitely recommend buying it from a tourist information centre. They would tell you things that you would not have known and offers that would make the most of your visit enjoyable. But, please bit the audio guide beforehand.. they sell out too fast and you would want one to have a complete experience of the castle.
Can you tell me if the audioguide is only for one person and is it worth renting? Seems expensive for 2 of us. Would one do? Also, if you can't use flash, will the cell phone cameras take reasonable pictures inside? Is the inside of the castle still being repaired so that sections are blocked off? Thank you so much!

Hi, may I ask do I really need to purchase tickets for entrance to Prague Castle. At what instances do I need to buy a ticket? Because I’m getting mixed up with reviews saying no need to buy and some say need to buy. I’m kinda confused. And also, if I need to buy ticket, can I just pay on arrival with their local currency in cash? I may just wanna see the St Vitus Cathedral from outside. Thank you.

You can walk in with no cost and walk all around the castle, the changing of the guard, near the entrance is at around 12 noon, worth seeing. Certain attractions inside the castle you have to pay an entrance fee for, usually Czech Koruna (about 30 to the pound or Euro's seem to work i prefer local Koruna). Walk right to the bottom to see a view of the city over the parapet walls.
