A strong storm system will hit Alabama next week with the threat of severe thunderstorms on March 4 and 5. The Storm Prediction Center has placed West Alabama under a slight risk for severe storms, a level 2 out of 5.

In an unusually early step, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 3 out of 5 Enhanced risk for Tuesday.

Next week will include the first days of meteorological spring, and right on schedule there will be a chance for severe weather in Alabama. The National Weather Service said damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible with a line of storms expected to move across the state from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
