The first WWE SmackDown of 2025 comes to you live from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s also the first SmackDown to get a third hour and the final before RAW moves to Netflix next Monday.

As previously announced, WWE's Shinsuke Nakamura will return to NOAH and face Ulka Sasaki at NOAH The New Year 2025 on January 1. Nakamura appeared at a press conference on December 27 and discussed the upcoming match against Sasaki. The WWE United States Champion went face-to-face with the former UFC star at the press conference in Tokyo.

A title match has been announced for the January 10th episode of WWE SmackDown. As confirmed on the January 3rd episode, Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the WWE United States Championship against LA Knight.

Shinsuke Nakamura returned to the ring at NOAH New Year on January 1, defeating Ulka Sasaki. Nakamura picked up the victory with the Kinshasa. This was Nakamura's first bout since winning the WWE United States Title from LA Knight at WWE Survivor Series. The WWE US Title was not on the line.
