The successor to Nintendo's popular Switch will drop this summer, promising easier ways to connect, share and play with friends. Here's what to know.

In a surprising development, Nintendo announces that it is delaying the release date of the highly anticipated Switch 2 console in one major country.

Nintendo announced the new Switch 2, and fans were able to score a closer look at the hybrid gaming console with Nintendo Direct on April 2. However, the release date of the new gaming console wasn’t released until earlier this morning.

However, Bloomberg reports that Nintendo assembles roughly a third of Switch 2 units in Vietnam, now only facing a 10% tariff, not the 46% it would have had if the pause had not happened.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is functionally similar to its predecessor. Sure, the detachable controllers can now each be used as a mouse (on your pants, no less), the screen is bigger, the hardware is more powerful and there's a built-in mic for voice chat.

Nintendo sent 383,000 units from Vietnam to the US in January and over 700,000 units in February. The shipments are bound to increase as Trump pauses most of his 'reciprocal tariffs.'
