Target is ending its diversity, equity and inclusion program along with other equity initiatives, the retailer said on Friday, becoming the latest U.S. firm to pull back these policies, meant to boost racial and ethnic representation at workplaces.

On Monday, the president signed an executive order putting an end to all federal DEI initiatives, calling them “illegal,” “immoral,” and “discriminatory.” Within 60 days of the announcement, agencies must “coordinate the termination” of all programs.

The Trump executive order seeks to dissuade private companies that receive government contracts from using DEI programs and hiring on the basis of race and gender.
