The highly anticipated Wisconsin (WIAA) state high school girls individual wrestling tournament came to an exciting, energized finish Saturday night as it crowned its champions at the University of Wisconsin's Kohl Center.

Brown Deer/Messmer/Shorewood junior Makhi Rodgers took his shot in the final seconds, trailing 7-4, at securing a match-tying takedown, but it was not to be. Tanner Gormanson of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln put the match away in the third period with a takedown off of Rodgers' move, securing the D1 285-pound title in a 10-4 final.

It all comes down to the 2025 WIAA state individual wrestling tournament, which will kick off on Feb. 27 at the Kohl Center. Around Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids, countless high school wrestlers are poised to make a statement in the big race on the backs of strong performances in the regional and sectional rounds of the wrestling postseason.
