An avalanche in Oregon's Cascade Mountains killed two backcountry skiers while another backcountry skier was found dead in an avalanche field near South Lake Tahoe, authorities said.

Authorities identified the two backcountry skiers who were killed Monday in an avalanche in Oregon’s central Cascade Mountains as Terance “Terry” Skjersaa, 57, and his wife, Susan “Renee” Skjersaa, 52. The couple were members of the family that founded Bend’s oldest ski shop.
