South Korea's main opposition party threatened on Monday to impeach acting president Han Duck-soo if he failed to approve legislation to launch a special counsel investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed bid to impose martial law.

Amid ongoing political turmoil in South Korea, the country's largest opposition party is reportedly seeking to initiate impeachment proceedings against Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, after the country's president was impeached earlier this month.

South Korea's main opposition party intends to pursue the impeachment of acting president Han Duck-soo, the party's floor leader said on Tuesday.
