A Connecticut woman allegedly punched a state trooper in the face as he tried to help her and then spit at him, state police said. The woman, Jessica Reyes, 28, of Derby, allegedly drove her Jeep off the road just before midnight Saturday and into the center median area near Exit 7 on Route 8 in Bridgeport, state police said.

A Derby woman was charged with DUI after parking in the center median of Route 8 in Bridgeport this weekend, according to state police. Jessica Reyes, 28, was driving on Route 8 southbound when she ran off the roadway into the center median.

A woman was charged with drunk driving and assaulting a state trooper. State police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Jessica Reyes of Derby. Troopers said they responded on Saturday night to a 911 call in which a person reported an erratic driver on Route 8 in Bridgeport.

The trooper initially chased the man onto Route 195 and drew his taser but the suspect had gotten too far away to deploy it, state police wrote. The trooper stopped the chase because of the pain he felt in his knee and returned to the motorcycle to seize it as evidence.
