U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) says Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge visitors may see sick or dead waterfowl due to a suspected outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

Merritt Island refuge has relocated all visitor services to a temporary contact station while renovations are happening at their main visitor center.
