U.S. auto safety regulators on Wednesday closed a probe into whether General Motors’ self-driving unit Cruise robotaxis were taking sufficient precautions to safeguard pedestrians. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,

The agency said it analyzed 2,759 reports identified by Cruise that involved collisions, including 1,113 that involved a “pedestrian conflict.”

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects Investigation has closed their preliminary investigation into General Motors' (NYSE:GM) Cruise division and will take no further action.

Once Norway's Vianode launches production in North America, the deal will run through 2033. The new plant could be in the U.S. or Canada.

General Motors has reached an agreement with battery materials producer Vianode that will develop and supply synthetic anode graphite for the automaker’s battery manufacturing.
