McLaren’s Oscar Piastri has scored his first pole position in Formula One ahead of Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix, with the Australian delivering two sizzling laps which were both quick enough to take the top spot on the grid.

Hamilton savoured a “really special” first victory in Ferrari red after winning the sprint race in dominant fashion. The seven-time world champion controlled the race from pole position to add a sprint victory to his record six grands prix triumphs in Shanghai.

The Chinese Grand Prix is this weekend, and the Shanghai International Circuit has witnessed a slew of controversies plus heart-stopping races in its time.
