NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured an image of the Curiosity rover driving through the Gale Crater. The spacecraft entered Mars’ orbit in 2006 and could continue to operate through 2029.

The Curiosity rover was captured trundling alone in the Martian landscape in the incredible image which sees the machine resembling the Disney/Pixar character

Captured by the Orbiter's High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera, the shot was taken on February 28 this year; this was the 4,455th day of Curiosity's mission after it touched down on Mars on August 6, 2012.
