National Park Service officials have closed multiple trails inside Arizona's Lake Mead National Recreation Area after one hiker died and 33 others needed to be rescued over the course of two days amid extreme heat conditions.

A group of 28 hikers were rescued from a Lake Mead trail on April 10 after not preparing for hot weather conditions, park service officials said.
