Right now, the main things we know about the Switch 2 hardware that distinguish it from the original Switch are that it's bigger and has more horsepower inside. The widespread expectation is that it will be roughly as powerful as a PlayStation 4 Pro or maybe even a Steam Deck, possibly with the ability to upscale games to 4K using DLSS technology.

Various rumors sprouted up, reporting that Switch 2 would launch in late 2023, possibly in 2024 or 2025. Nintendo officially squashed a 2023 release in May when president Shuntaro Furukawa insisted that Nintendo had no hardware releases planned for the year.

Fresh evidence that a new GameCube controller is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been spotted online. It comes from a recently published FCC filing by Nintendo (spotted by NintendoLife) which shows that a new "game controller" is in the works.
