The Leonids is a typical meteor shower most years, on pace with others such as the Lyrids and Orionids with around 15 shooting stars per hour. That is once again the case in 2025, but history has shown that it has the potential to erupt into an unbelievable meteor frenzy.

It's time to look up at the night sky. The Lyrids - Spring's first meteor shower - are known for producing bright-flashing fireballs, according to NASA.

To have the best chance and seeing some meteors, find an area away from city lights or street lights. Lie flat on your back with your feet facing east. Look up and take in as much of the sky as possible. Your eyes will adapt after about 30 minutes in the dark, allowing you to see the meteors.
