Retired NFL star Richard Sherman’s recent birthday may have been one he’d like to forget. He took to social media to share that his King County, Wash., home was robbed at gunpoint with his wife, Ashley Moss, and their two children inside.

The former Seattle Seahawks player celebrated his 37th birthday one day before he posted about the robbery.

Until now, the string of robberies at athletes' homes was an invasion of privacy, but an immediate concern for homeowners' safety was pushed to the back burner.
