Nine Salisbury University students have been sentenced in connection to an off-campus hate crime attack in October 2024.

According to the Maryland Judiciary, 10 of the 15 defendants, all expelled members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, entered guilty pleas to second-degree assault or false imprisonment, conceding their part in luring a gay man to an off-campus apartment before ambushing him as a group.

A third Salisbury University student involved in an alleged hate crime learned his fate in court on Friday. 20-year-old Dylan Pietuszka was convicted of second degree assault and false imprisonment. He was subsequently sentenced to two years behind bars with all but 79 days suspended.
