GENESEE COUNTY, MI - Due to dangerous icy roads and severe wind gusts, many Flint area schools have closed for Thursday, Feb. 6. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southeast Michigan until 9 a.m. Thursday, with mixed precipitation bringing up to a half-inch of snow and sleet, along with a light glaze of ice, according to weather.com.

Many D.C.-area schools will open two hours late Thursday and a few systems are closed after a mix of sleet, freezing rain and plain rain fell across the region. Federal agencies will be open, with the option for unscheduled leave or telework,

National Weather Service forecasters Wednesday set down a Winter Weather Advisory covering almost the entire state, warning of slippery road conditions during the morning and evening commutes. Snowfall is expected to begin between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday, before the precipitation shifts to ice and rain in the afternoon.
