The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain open on February 1 despite it being a Saturday, due to the Union budget presentation.

Indian stock markets opened flat in a special trading session on Saturday, ahead of the Budget presentation. The Nifty 50 index opened at 23,528.60, registering a gain of 20.20 points or 0.09 per cent,

The stock exchanges are open today, February 1, for a special trade session as the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament today. Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session higher.

Though Sensex recovered by 0.01 percent at the end of the trading day, Nifty index stayed in the red, ending the day down 0.11 percent.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Biggest gainers on the Nifty included Tata Consumer, Trent, Bharat Electronics, Nestle India, L&T, while losers were Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Apollo Hospitals, JSW Steel. All the sectoral indices ended in the green with Consumer Durables,

Sectorally, the Realty and FMCG indices dominated in the session and ended 3.38 per cent and 3.01 per cent higher. Meanwhile, the PSU Bank index stood among the laggards and tanked 1.59 per cent.

Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, ended flat amid high volatility today, 1 February 2025, after the Union Budget 2025-2026 was presented in the Parliament.
