It may look more brown in people ... and buttocks. Mottled skin can occur in anyone with an underlying cause, including children. In some cases, infants experience livedo reticularis.

Livedo reticularis was confirmed by biopsy (see Figure 1). Skin looks mottled, blotchy, and reticulated without distinct borders. It has a network pattern and a bluish, reddish discoloration.
