Boom Supersonic's XB-1 breaks sound barrier | Greensboro officials witness aviation history
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The countdown is on for XB-1, the world’s first independently developed supersonic jet, to break the sound barrier during its next test flight. Scheduled for January 28, 2025, at 6:45 a.m. PST, Chief Test Pilot Tristan “Geppetto” Brandenburg will reach a cruising speed of Mach 1.1 at 34,000 feet.
