The Chicago Bears continue to make moves ahead of free agency, signing veteran tight end Durham Smythe, as the team continues to strengthen the roster under new head coach Ben Johnson. Smythe is reportedly signing to a one-year deal with Chicago after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Tight end Durham Smythe has found a new team. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Smythe is signing a one-year deal with the Bears. Smythe, 29, spent his first seven seasons with the Dolphins before the club released him last month.

The Bears are signing veteran tight end Durham Smythe to a one-year deal Thursday, per NFL Network. Like Bears starter Cole Kmet, Smythe is a Notre Dame alum. He was picked in Round 4 of the 2018 NFL draft by the Dolphins, where he played under future Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who was the wide receivers coach.
