KENTUCKY, USA — Severe weather is once again taking aim at Kentucky and southern Indiana on Wednesday. Portions of western Kentucky are under a high risk for severe weather while the rest of the state is under a moderate risk, including Louisville, or an enhanced risk.
Repeated waves of thunderstorms will pose risks to lives and property through the weekend in the same areas that were blasted by deadly storms on Wednesday and Wednesday night.
"This is a rare, high-impact, and potentially devastating event," The National Weather Service wrote on X. "Heavy rainfall will likely lead to widespread river, flash, and areal flooding that could cause severe disruptions especially along and north of I-40."
A life-threatening outbreak of long-lived and strong tornadoes is expected today in parts of the central and eastern US from a powerful, wide-reaching spring storm.
At least five people died in Tennessee and one each in Missouri and Indiana as severe thunderstorms move through the central part of the nation.
