The discovery near Luxor is the first of a pharaonic royal tomb since the treasures of Tutankhamun’s tomb were found over a century ago in 1922, Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said Tuesday.

The tomb of Thutmose II, who ruled about 3,500 years ago, was discovered by an Egyptian-British team near the Valley of the Kings.

A tomb of an Egyptian pharaoh has been found in the first major discovery since Tutankhamun in 1922. The “remarkable discovery” of the tomb of Thutmose II was made around 1.5 miles west of the famous Valley of the Kings in Egypt by a joint British-Egyptian team.
