BOSTON — After a day that saw the Bruins dump so many key parts of their lineup and their culture before the trade deadline on Friday, their short-term future is bleak and their long-term prospects are uncertain.

Charlie McAvoy didn’t need words to express how he felt about Brad Marchand’s departure from the Boston Bruins. On Friday, hours after the Bruins sent their longtime captain to the Florida Panthers in a trade deadline stunner,

"The human side of me was crushed," Jeremy Swayman said as the Bruins tried to pick up the post-deadline pieces.
