Jason Alden is praising this all-American girl. The country star shared his two cents on Carrie Underwood’s a capella performance of “America the Beautiful” during Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday.
Trump’s first presidential inauguration in 2017 featured performances from America’s Got Talent alum Jackie Evancho and the Radio City Rockettes. Four years later, Jennifer Lopez sang “America the Beautiful” and “This Land Is Your Land” at President Joe Biden’s 2021 swearing-in ceremony.
Before he got going with the performance at the Liberty Ball, Aldean told the crowd that Trump called him and let him know that he believed in the message of “Try That In A Small Town” as the country star was in the midst of fighting off the outrage:
