The U.S. has approved an extension to Delfin LNG's free trade permit, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Monday at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has granted an extension to Delfin LNG for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export permit, allowing additional time for the commencement of exports from its proposed project offshore Louisiana.

Today’s order extends the commencement date for Delfin’s export authorisation to 1 June 2029. This is for exports of up to 1.8 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas as LNG to non-free trade agreement countries.

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright extended a permit for a natural gas export project by Delfin LNG LLC. The development off the coast of Louisiana will involve four vessels that’ll produce 13.3 million tons of LNG a year.
