Ragnarok is one of several games coming to PlayStation Plus this January, rounding out a disappointing month for Essential subscribers.

PlayStation Plus is adding more titles to its Game Catalog in January, and the list includes some heavy hitters. God of War Ragnarok leads the list, letting subscribers who never bought the sequel continue on Kratos and Atreus' adventure as they try to prevent the Norse apocalypse.

God of War: Ragnarök has won dozens of awards since it was released in 2022, including the award for Best Narrative at the Game Awards that year. If you've never played the myth-based action game before, now's your chance, because Sony is bringing the game to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers on Jan. 21.

Atreus is playable in God of War Ragnarok, which is great, but also makes the possibility of him leading his own game a bit less novel.

In addition to its expansive campaign, God of War Ragnarok features a unique mode called Valhalla. This mode is a roguelike experience that allows players to test their skills, but it doesn’t stop there — it also includes a compelling narrative that God of War fans can’t afford to miss.

Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog additions for January. They include God of War Ragnarök, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Citizen Sleeper and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
