A Houston-based ATM theft crew, suspected of multiple Fort Worth ATM thefts, was caught in the act last month, leading to seven arrests, police said Wednesday. Officers followed the crew to a bank ATM on Hulen Street in mid-January after the Fort Worth Tactical Intelligence Operations Surveillance Team received information about a planned heist.

Seven people, allegedly part of a Houston-based ATM “theft crew,” face organized crime charges following a early morning Jan. 16 police operation, police said.

Police were already investigating several ATM thefts they believed the ring had committed in Fort Worth and received a tip that suspects were traveling back to attempt more thefts, officials said.

The Fort Worth Police Department said they were told that a crew out of Houston was heading to North Texas to commit an ATM theft on Jan. 16. FWPD said a surveillance team within the department was already investigating "several previous Fort Worth ATM thefts they believed the crew was also responsible for."

The suspects are believed to have used a stolen F-250 equipped with a chain in their attempt to break into the ATM. The vehicle was reported stolen in Lafayette.
