Porsche just revealed the 992.2-generation 911 Carrera S. The model no longer comes with an optional manual transmission but is more powerful.

Slotting into its expected role in the hierarchy between the base Carrera and the now-hybrid GTS, the S sees a big increase in output from its 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six, with the wick now dialed up up to 473 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

The new 992.2-gen Carrera S also has more standard features, but the coupe's base price has risen over $15K to $148,395.

The regular 911 received the turbochargers used by the previous GTS, closing the gulf in performance between those two models. As a result, it's only natural that Porsche has increased the output of the Carrera S.

Naturally, with a myriad of model variations, Porsche is going to need some time to fill all the gaps in the 911 family with refreshed versions

The latest to arrive is the 911 Carrera S, which was revealed on Wednesday and is due at dealerships in the spring as a 2025 model. Order books are already open, and pricing starts at $148,395 for the coupe and $161,595 for the convertible. Both figures include a $1,995 destination charge.
