Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's choice to play a final reunion gig in Birmingham has been described as a "homecoming" that recognises the city's status in music culture. The music icons will headline a one-day festival at Villa Park on 5 July dubbed "the greatest heavy metal show ever".

Ozzy Osbourne has announced his final show — and it will feature a reunion of the original lineup of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years.

Osbourne has received a number of accolades through career, including a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 1994. In 2006, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his Black Sabbath bandmates, then again as a solo artist last year by Hollywood actor Jack Black.

Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath are reuniting for one last time, to play a fund-raising concert in Birmingham on 5 July. The heavy metal pioneers will headline a spectacular one-day festival at Villa Park, featuring dozens of bands they inspired, including Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Gojira and Anthrax.

The original Black Sabbath lineup, featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, will perform at the “Back to the Beginning” concert on July 5 in Birmingham, England.
