Denver fire officials said firefighters rescued two people from the house despite heavy fire and smoke, but one of those people later died.

When Denver Fire crews arrived at the intersection of South Hooker Street and West Alabama Place, they found the house already full of heavy flames and smoke.

One resident was rescued and treated for fire-related injuries. Their condition is not known. A second person was removed from the home and died from their injuries, according to Denver Fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
