Pete Alonso is still looking for a contract, but he hasn’t had a ton of suitors. Outside of the Toronto Blue Jays and his lifelong team, the New York Mets, the veteran slugger has minimal options. Mets owner Steve Cohen has publically made it clear he only wants the Polar Bear back on his terms.

The Pete Alonso free agent saga continues with what seems like no end in sight. But one New York sports commentator thinks it will end before the weekend.

So, beyond revealing an exhaustion from negotiating with Alonso’s camp, Cohen’s comments confirmed a couple of other matters. One, in a world without Alonso returning to Flushing, the Mets may add more pieces. Two, the Mets are at least acting like they care about how much they spend.
