Spring may almost be here, but winter still has a sting in its tail, with a "robust winter storm" set to bring severe weather and potential power cuts to millions across much of the country this week — as southern states face a critical risk of wildfires as winds and temperatures rise.

A robust and dynamic system sweeps across the nation with severe weather on Tuesday for the Deep South and the East Coast on Wednesday. The day will start mild and humid. Winds will increase out of the south during the morning and gust up to 40 mph.

Dangerous severe weather is on the horizon with damaging winds, and tornadoes possible as a line of storms rips across the Plains and South. The multi-day severe thunderstorm set up began Sunday but will shift into the Gulf Coast by Wednesday.
