A lawsuit filed by the family of Anthony Johnson Jr. has been dismissed, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office. Johnson, a marine veteran, was killed during an altercation inside the Tarrant County Jail in April 2024.

A federal judge dismissed the claims against Tarrant County and six of the named jailers, but nine defendants remain.

The 36-year-old man had been screened multiple times and showed no warning signs of suicidal behavior, officials said.
