The UMKC Conservatory, which was founded in 1906, offers more than 35 academic programs in dance, music and theatre.

The 35,000-square-foot addition to the Olsen Performing Arts Center will provide more performance and rehearsal space.

So far, leaders of UMKC said they have raised about half of the $35 million needed for the first phase of construction. The university expects to break ground on the project in 2026.
