A volcano in Southern Italy has burned red as lava spewed from one of its craters. The snowy surroundings of Sicily’s Mount Etna were lit up as the volcano emitted lava around 3,000 metres above sea level.

Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec. 23.

Kilauea, located about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Honolulu, is one of five volcanoes that make up the Big Island of Hawaii. The volcano's summit is about 4,091 feet (1,247 meters) above sea level.
