While some of America’s most powerful companies have rolled back their DEI initiatives over the past year, investors are rejecting anti-DEI proposals in overwhelming numbers. This week, shareholders at Apple and John Deere voted against anti-DEI propositions by a margin of 97.

Apple’s shareholders rejected a proposal to dismantle the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion program at their annual meeting on Tuesday. Minutes later, CEO Tim Cook acknowledged that Apple may still be forced to adjust its DEI policies in response to shifting legal and political pressures.

Shareholders of Deere & Co. voted overwhelmingly to reject a proposal seeking to curb the farming-machinery maker’s diversity, equity and inclusion plans — the latest sign of investor resistance to conservative efforts to end diversity practices.
