CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Sundance Film Festival is not moving to Cincinnati. According to Film Cincinnati, the festival chose a familiar setting. It was later announced that the festival will move to Boulder, Colorado, in 2027.

Cincinnati was not chosen for the Sundance Film Festival, according to the president of Film Cincinnati. In a statement sent Thursday, Film Cincinnati President Kristen Schlotman wrote: "While Cincinnati was not selected to host Sundance Film Festival, we are proud of how our city demonstrated its dynamic role within the film industry."

A prestigious film festival that has taken place annually in Utah for more than 40 years has decided against moving to Ohio. Cincinnati was named last September among three finalist cities that could begin hosting the Sundance Film Festival starting in 2027.

Less than one year ago, the Sundance Institute announced it was considering new locations for the festival after its current contract with Park City/Salt Lake City ended in 2026.
